Focused Education

I received my Bachelors of Science in Nursing in 2008 from Douglas College

I specialized in Pediatrics taking pediatric theory courses from BCIT

I specialized further at BC Children’s Hospital from 2008-2014, taking many of their offered specialty education courses

I started taking education based courses at FHA starting with Educator Pathway level one: Foundational Mentorship in 2016

My mentor, Melissa B, encouraged me to take further Educator Pathway courses, knowing that a leadership opportunity may be available within the pediatric portfolio. In 2021 I completed Educator Pathway level two: Education Theory and Practice.

In January 2022 I reapplied to Educator Pathway Level one: Advanced Mentorship, as changes to the course occurred since I had previously taken it.

In May 2022 I was hired as the interim Clinical Nurse Educator for ARH and CGH pediatrics. I completed the Educator Orientation Workshop.

In March 2023, I completed Educator Pathway level three: Education Theory and Practice. By the time of this course I had valuable experience acting as the interim Clinical Nurse Educator for 10 months. I felt confident in my expanding knowledge and with my experience at ARH and CGH.

In November 2023 although I had finished my role as interim Clinical Nurse Educator, I completed the Education Community of Practice as I felt a strong desire to continue my reflection and learning in the educator realm of nursing.
